Following the powerful Stageworks performance of “The Meeting,” this virtual training continues the conversation sparked by the imagined dialogue between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.
While their approaches to justice differed, both leaders shared an unwavering commitment to dignity, equity, and the liberation of Black communities. Their exchange challenges us to think deeply about leadership—what it requires, what it costs, and how it shows up in moments that demand action.
This session builds on that reflection by connecting their legacy to present-day realities. We will explore current developments related to voting rights and the recent redrawing of Florida’s congressional maps, unpacking what these changes mean for communities and voter influence.
More importantly, this training is about what comes next. It invites participants to move beyond reflection into responsibility—recognizing the power of their voice, the impact of their vote, and the role they play in shaping the future.
Through guided discussion, community insight, and guest perspectives, this session is designed to both ground participants in context and activate them toward meaningful civic engagement.
